As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, I lived in Ourense, Spain from September 2018 to June 2019. Ourense is a city of about 100,000 in the northwest province of Galicia. My weekly responsibility was to teach sixteen hours of English at IES As Lagoas, a public school in the center of the city. Over the course of the year, I taught the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Curriculum to over 500 students.
I spent my first term mostly with juniors and sophomores and my second term with freshmen and eighth graders. For a peak into my daily life while living in Ourense, check out A Week in the Life.

I arrived in Madrid, Spain in early September for Fulbright Orientation in Alcala de Henares, a suburb of Madrid. After a few days of training and meeting fellow Spain Fulbrights, I took the five hour train to Ourense, my new home. Read about my first experiences in Madrid and Ourense in Welcome to My Fulbright Year.

Once settled into Ourense, I started to schedule amazing trips around Spain and Europe. I even had a once in a lifetime opportunity to get some photos with the King of Spain. All the while, I still continued to build relationships in Ourense with coworkers and friends. Below, my blogs about my experiences in Spain posted in chronological order, from newest to oldest.
